i'm colette (polishedbycolette) a maximalist gothic artist living and working in new york city.

i'm a bit of a loner and a recovering pessimist, though i'm not very optimistic about the outcome. 

despite that, there are a few things i believe in above all else; the healing power of literature, the inherit comfort of horror and the ability to shield yourself from the outside world in how you choose to adorn yourself. 

for over a decade nails have been my constant companion, often times my only companion. wearable art to show others who i am, who i'm not and what i believe in - as essential to my being as anything. 

they've served as talons, shields and at their very core, armor. 

i hope these nails can help shield you and provide comfort in knowing they were hand painted and made by me for you. a piece of a melancholic to carry with you, to shield you.
